John MURRAY of Philiphaugh, d.1753

Biographical Note

The eldest son of Sir James Murray of Philiphaugh (Lord Clerk Register of Scotland, 1655–1708) succeeded his father in 1708 as hereditary Sheriff of Selkirk. He sat in the British Parliament from 1725 to his death.

The extent and disposition of his library is not known.
