Biographical Note
Son of Sir John Smyth, 2nd bart, of Long Ashton, Somerset, landowner and MP; he inherited the baronetcy and family estates from his father in 1726. Matriculated at St John's College, Oxford 1717, but did not graduate; he was awarded the DCL degree in 1729.
Books
Smyth used an engraved armorial bookplate (Franks 27474); the extent and disposition of his library is not known. His estates were inherited by his daughter Florence but the baronetcy became extinct.
