Andrew QUICK 1666-1736

Biographical Note

Son of John Quick of Newton St Cyres, Devon, a member of a long-established gentry family there. He began a career in customs administration before becoming collector of customs at Padstow in 1700; he was receiver of tin for Devon 1703-14, and MP for Ashburton 1711-13, for Grampound 1713-15. He was reputed to have Jacobite sympathies.

Books

Quick used an engraved armorial bookplate (Franks 24420); the extent and disposition of his library are not known.
