John FORSTER 1688-1745
Biographical Note
Second son of Thomas Forster of Adderstone, Northumberland, a member of a long-established gentry family there. His elder brother Thomas was a Jacobite who lived in exile in Paris after 1716, and John inherited the family estates when the elder Thomas died in 1725.
Books
Forster used an engraved armorial bookplate (Franks 11000); the extent and disposition of his library is not known. The male line of the family died out after the death of John's son Thomas at the age of 20 in 1763.
