Sir John ca.1676-1728
Biographical Note
Son of Sir Nicholas Crispe, 2nd bart, of Hammersmith, from whom he inherited the title and family estates in 1698. Little else is known of his life; in his will, he describes himself as being of New Sarum, Wiltshire (i.e. Salisbury), though the family burial vault was in St Mildred Bread Street, London.
Books
Crispe used two different engraved armorial bookplates, of similar design but different heraldry (before and after his marriage? One is quartered, the other not - Franks 7368/9-70). The extent of his library is not known; it would have been inherited, along with all the residue of his personal estate, by his son Nicholas, 4th baronet.
