William CARMICHAEL of Skirling 1671-1759

Biographical Note

The second son of James Carmichael, second Earl of Hyndford (1638-1710). Became a member of the Faculty of Advocates 31 January 1695 and was appointed King's Solicitor 1 April 1701. He was M.P. for Lanark 1702-1707, and an extraordinary director of the Bank of Scotland.
