Sir John HARINGTON 1561-1612
Biographical Note
Of Kelston, near Bath; son of John Harington (c.1517–1582). Educated at King's College, Cambridge, BA 1578, MA 1581. Courtier, author and translator, Harington is best known for producing the first complete translation of Ludovico Ariosto's epic romance poem Orlando Furioso into English and for his work A New Discourse of a Stale Subject, called the Metamorphosis of Ajax (1596).
Books
Booklists survive which show that he had a sizeable library, including many plays.
