[name::Juliana]] WENTWORTH or HORDE d.1736
Biographical Note
Date and place of birth unknown, daughter of Thomas Horde, gentleman, of Coat or Cote (Bampton) in Oxfordshire. She married Peter Wentworth, brother of the 1st Earl of Strafford of the second creation, and died on May 30, 1736.
Books
None of her books have been traced, but she is known to have used two bookplates dated 1707 and 1709 (Franks 31323 and 31324). The former is described by Labouchere as “Armorial. Motto: ‘En Dieu est tout,’ mantling, crest, and helmet, probably her husband’s plate.” (p. 26). These bookplates are mentioned in a number of nineteenth century reference works on the topic; it is unclear whether they were widely known at the time, or if these reference works are all quoting each other.
