Colley LYONS d.1741

Biographical Note

Of River Lyons, King's County and Ledestown Hall, County Westmeath, a member of a long-established family which traced its descent back to the times of the Norman Conquest. No details of his life have been traced beyond the fact that he was High Sheriff of King's County, Ireland in 1715, and an MP in the Irish Parliament 1727-41.

Books

Lyons used an engraved armorial bookplate (Franks 18985); the extent and disposition of his library is not known. He is recorded as a subscriber to Samuel Boyse, Translations and poems, London, 1734.
