Roland SWYNBORNE or SWINBORNE d.1557
Biographical Note
Son of John Swynborne of Chopwell, Durham. BA University of Cambridge 1517, MA 1520, BD 1545, proctor 1529-30, master of Clare College 1539-49 and 1553-57 (having been ejected during the reign of Edward VI). He was a prebendary of Durham and Salisbury, and held other ecclesiastical livings.
Books
Swynborne's probate inventory includes ca.40 books, valued at £3 11s 7d (from a total estate valued at ca.£267). The books are mostly in Latin, and predominantly theological His will made no specific mention of books. The full inventory is edited as Leedham-Green no.76 (see full citation below).
