William DINGWALL 1676-1733
Biographical Note
Son of Alexander Dingwall of Brownhill, Aberdeenshire, who by marriage also acquired the estate of Brucklay, Aberdeenshire. He inherited Brucklay in 1706, while his younger brother Arthur took Brownhill. He graduated MA from the University of Aberdeen and worked for a while as an agent for Sir Samuel Forbes of Foveran (d.1701). Little else is recorded of his subsequent career, beyond his marriage to Anna Gordon in 1711 and the fact that he served as a JP.
Books
Dingwall used an engraved armorial bookplate (Franks 8693); the extent and disposition of his library are not known.
