Isaac LE HEUP ca.1686-1747
Biographical Note
Son of Thomas Le Heup of St Lo, Normandy (who came to England as a Huguenot refugee in the 1680s); his marriage to Elizabeth Lombard in 1720 made him a brother-in-law to Horace Walpole, 1st Baron Walpole. He purchased an estate at Gunthorpe Hall, Norfolk in 1726. MP for Bodmin, and other west country constituencies, 1722-41; in 1727 he was appointed to some diplomatic missions in Europe, only to be swiftly dismissed for offending the Prince of Wales.
Books
Le Heup used an engraved armorial bookplate (Franks 17989). The extent and disposition of his library is not known; his brief will has no mention of books, and all his property was divided between his wife (for her lifetime) and two daughters.
