Biographical Note
Born in Northamptonshire. BA Magdalen College, Oxford 1655, MA 1658; DD Cambridge 1690. Rector of St Mildred Poultry, London 1673, prebendary of St Paul's 1683 and of Canterbury; Bishop of Chichester 1696. His advancement owed much to his extensive publications of sermons and doctrinal works, and his steady advocacy of the Anglican positions of the time.
Books
Williams used an engraved armorial bookplate, shows his arms as Bishop (Franks *595); the extent and disposition of his library are not known.
