Biographical Note
Son of William Stretton, of Great Claybrooke, Leicestershire. BA New College, Oxford 1565, MA 1658. Chaplain to Thomas Fairfax, 3rd Baron Fairfax, who bequeathed him a copy of Walton's Polyglot Bible (given by Stretton to Halle University). Licensed as a presbyterian to preach at Cawood, Yorkshire 1672; thereafter he moved round various locations as an independent minister, including London and Oxford.
Books
Stretton was involved in various schemes to provide books for dissenting students, in Wales and Scotland. His library was auctioned in London, 13.10.1712
