Samuel RAYMOND 1719-1767

Biographical Note

Son of William Raymond of London, gentleman; in 1732 he inherited an estate at Belchamp Walter, Essex from a great-uncle. He matriculated at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge in 1737, but did not graduate; ordained in 1755, he did not seek any ecclesiastical preferments, but lived on his estate.

Books

Raymond used an engraved armorial bookplate, which exists in four variant and slightly altered states (including Franks 24665-6). The extent and disposition of his library is not known.
