Samuel SWIRE 1680-1729

Biographical Note

Son of Samuel Swire or Swyer of Cononley, Yorkshire and Elizabeth Coates, Swire was born into a Yorkshire landowning family. He lived at Scale House, in Skipton, Yorkshire, and married Eleanor Jackman.

Characteristic Markings

An engraved armorial bookplate ‘Samuel Swire, Gent’ is in the Franks collection (28671).
