Sir David MURRAY of Stanhope, 2nd baronet, ca. 1659-1729
Biographical Note
Murray was born about 1659 at Stanhope, Drumelzier, Peeblesshire, Scotland, the son of Sir David Murray of Stanhope, M.P. (d. ca. 1653). He was a member of the Scottish Parliament, representing Peeblesshire in 1681-1682 and 1689. He was active in Jacobite activities in 1715 but managed to avoid sequestration and remained loyal to the Union government thereafter. He died 14 Feb 1729 at his lodging in the Canongate parish of Edinburgh.
