Thomas HAYLEY 1715-1747
Biographical Note
Son of Thomas Hayley, Dean of Chichester. BA Exeter College, Oxford 1735. He came into considerable inheritances in the early 1740s, including Eartham House near Chichester in 1743, but died four years later.
Books
Hayley used an engraved armorial bookplate (Franks 14253). The extent of his library is not known; his lengthy will has no mention of books, but they would have been inherited by his only son to survive to adulthood, the poet William Hayley (1745-1820).
