Biographical Note

The Hon. Archibald Campbell was a Scottish Episcopal bishop. He was the second son of Lord Neil Campbell (c. 1630–1692) and the grandson of Archibald Campbell, marquess of Argyll (1605x7–1661). He went into exile following Argyle's uprising in 1685 and was ordained on his return. After the revolution of 1688 he became a non-juror and was consecrated a Scottish bishop at Dundee in 1711.
