Biographical Note
Born at Worcester House, London, son of Maurice Thomson (1604-1676). Entered Lincoln's Inn in 1663; admitted to Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge in 1664. MP for Upper Gatton in 1685, 1689, 1690 and 1695. Elected 1st Baron Haversham in 1696. He married Lady Frances (c.1648-1705) in 1668, with whom he had five sons and eight daughters. In 1709 he married his housekeeper Martha Graham (1647-1724).
Books
Library sold in London by retail sale, 13.3.1711. The catalogue, which describes the contents as "part of the library" (so, not the entire library) contains 293 lots, divided between Latin books (173 lots), English (26), English law (15), and French (79).
