An untraced individual (‘Richard Ford, gent., lately deceas’d’).
Books
Ford's library was auctioned in London, beginning 10 December 1707. The preface to the catalogue states that ‘tho’ a young man’, his ‘choice of good books ... sufficiently evidenc’d to all intelligent persons, not only his love, but likewise his knowledge, of true religion and good literature’. The sale catalogue lists 1323 lots, divided between Latin and Greek theology, history, philology and medicine (270 lots), French and Dutch books (116), and English books (1027). The majority of the imprints date from the second half of the 17th century, with a number of 16th and earlier 17th century ones.
