Biographical Note

Eldest son of Sir Duncan Campbell, 4th Baronet of Auchinbreck. He was educated at Glasgow University (1695). Member of the Scottish Parliament 1703-1707 and of the British Parliament 1707-1708. His fortunes were adversely affected by hostility from the Duke of Argyle and then because of his Jacobite sympathies.
