Sir Francis JERNINGHAM, 3rd bart ca.1650-1730
Biographical Note
Son of Sir Henry Jerningham, 2nd bart, of Costessey (or Cossey) Hall, Norfolk, a member of a long-established Roman Catholic gentry family there. He was educated at the English College at Douai and succeeded his father in the title and family estates in 1680.
Books
Jerningham used a large engraved armorial bookplate, made for him at Douai ca.1710 (Franks 16442). The extent of his library is not known; successive Jerningham baronets made extensive use of bookplates and the family library is likely to have been built over successive generations.
