Biographical Note

Born at Trentham Hall, Staffordshire, the eldest son of Sir William Leveson-Gower, fourth baronet (c.1647-1691). MP for Newcastle under Lyme 1692; Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster 1702. Created Baron Gower of Stittenham in 1703.
