Thomas SPARK 1655-92
Biographical Note
Born at Northop, Flintshire, son of Archibald Spark, vicar there. BA Christ Church, Oxford 1676, MA 1679, Greek praelector 1682, BD 1688, DD 1691. Prebendary of Lichfield 1686, rector of Ewhurst, Surrey 1687, prebendary of Rochester 1688. He published a number of editions of classical texts, which were criticised for their accuracy and scholarship.
Books
Spark's library was auctioned in London, 3.7.1693. The only recorded copy, in the British Library, ends on p.20 and may be incomplete; it includes 1468 lots, divided between Latin theology (325 lots), Latin miscellaneous (374), Latin mathematics and medicine (101), and English divinity, history and miscellaneous (668).
