John DOBYNS or DOBBYNS d.1731

Biographical Note

Lithotomist and senior surgeon of St Bartholomew's Hospital, London. He was elected a fellow of the Royal Society in 1724 and contributed a short piece on kidney stones to the Philosophical Transactions in 1728.

Books

Dobyns's library was auctioned in London, beginning 6 May 1731. A revised titlepage, dated 10 January 1732, was printed when Thomas Ballard took the sale over from Christopher Bateman. Dobyns's brief will has no mention of books, distributing most of his estate around his wife and daughters.
