John AMHERST 1744-1797
Biographical Note
Son of Nicholas Amherst, of East Farleigh, Kent. Matriculated at Trinity Hall, Cambridge 1762, but did bit graduate; he was admitted at the Middle Temple in 1760. In 1772 he inherited an estate at Boxley Abbey, Kent, from his relation by marriage Edward Seyliard (a younger relation of John Seyliard, d.1745).
