Robert FLEMING or FLEMMING ca.1660-1716
Biographical Note
Son of Robert Fleming, presbyterian minister in Scotland and later in the Netherlands. He was ordained himself as a presbyterian minister in Rotterdam in 1688, and moved to England where he was chaplain to a family at Soham before returning to the Netherlands to become minister to the English presbyterian congregation at Leiden in 1692. He moved to the Scots church at Rotterdam in 1695 before moving back to London in 1698 as minister to the Scots church at Lothbury. He published numerous doctrinal works and was much respected for his learning and relatively liberal theology.
Books
Fleming's library was sold by retail sale in London, beginning 25 April 1730 (a few years before the death of his widow Hannah, who died in 1733). No catalogue survives, but the sale was advertised in the Daily Courant.
