Biographical Note

Matriculated as a scholar of Magdalene College, Cambridge 1549, but died soon afterwards, before graduating.

Barker's probate inventory includes 62 titles, and ca.75 volumes in all, valued at £2 6s 7d (from a total estate valued at £25 19s 4d). The books are largely in Latin, with some Greek and a French one, covering theology, classics, medicine and other topics; he presumably came from a relatively affluent background, to have so many books as an undergraduate.
