Biographical Note
BA Queens' College, Cambridge 1522, fellow 1523 (later a fellow of Christ's), MA 1525, BD 1538.
Books
Townley's probate inventory includes 73 titles, in 111 volumes, valued at £2 14s 7d (from a total estate valued at £19 8s 3d). The books are predominantly in Latin, but include some English and French ones; alongside many theological books, including many titles by reforming authors like Bucer and Bullinger, he owned texts on a mixture of other subjects.
