Gavin CROOKSHANKS or CROOKESHANKES 1703/4-1747
Biographical Note
Born in Scotland, in or near Aberdeen. MA Marischal College, Aberdeen 1733, MD 1740; in 1733 he was admitted to study medicine at Leiden University. By the time he made his will in early 1747 he was working as a physician in London, living in the parish of St Martin in the Fields.
Books
Crookshanks used an engraved armorial bookplate (made after 1740; he describes himself as MD, Franks 7434). The extent and disposition of his library is not known; in his brief will, he left all his property to his wife Isabella.
