Charles SOMERSET 1689/90-1710

Charles Somerset's bookplate (British Museum Franks Collection *301)

Biographical Note

Second son of Charles Somerset, 1st Marquis of Worcester. MA Christ Church, Oxford 1707, after which he went travelling in Italy, where he died in 1710. Some of his travel diaries survive in Gloucestershire Archives.

Books

An engraved armorial bookplate dated 1703 (when he would have been 14) was made for him (Franks 27579/*301); the extent and disposition of his library is not known.
