John LEVESON-GOWER, 1st Baron Gower 1675-1709
Biographical Note
Born at Trentham Hall, Staffordshire, the eldest son of Sir William Leveson-Gower, fourth baronet (c.1647-1691). MP for Newcastle under Lyme 1692; Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster 1702. Created Baron Gower of Stittenham in 1703.

Leveson-Gower used engraved armorial bookplates (Franks 12390/*119/*137); the extent and disposition of his library are not known.
