William HUTCHINGS or HUTCHINS d.1647
Biographical Note
Of Cheshire. BA Brasenose College, Oxford 1606, MA 1606, BD 1619; became a fellow and Vice-Principal of Brasenose. Rector of Gawsworth, Cheshire 1630 (ejected 1643).
Books
In his will, Hutchings bequeathed "my whole study of books" to the college, noting that some were currently in the study of John Haughton. Any money left over after other bequests were made was to go to the college, for chaining and "ordering" his books. He also directed that his commonplace book become the property of the Vice-Principal's office in the college, for the use of his successors, "not to be used out of his chamber".
