Sir Henry CAMBELL, 3rd bart 1663-1699
Biographical Note
Second son of Sir Thomas Cambell, 1st baronet, of Clay Hall, Essex, who inherited the title as 3rd baronet following the death of his elder brother in 1668. Matriculated at Christ Church, Oxford 1680 but did not graduate; admitted to the Middle Temple in the same year. The baronetcy became extinct on his death in 1699.
Books
A couple of books are known with Cambell's armorial stamp on the bindings, but otherwise nothing is known of his library. His will has no mention of books, leaving his estate to his wife and daughter Mary (d.1709). One of these Cambell armorials, in the NAL, has the bookplate of Sir Godfrey Copley (d.1709), suggesting a dispersal of books not long after Cambell's death. Examples: National Art Library CLE Drawer 5.
