Biographical Note

Fourth son of Sir Rowland Belasyse, of Smithills Hall, Bolton. A Roman Catholic in religion, he travelled in Italy around the turn of the eighteenth century and married Frances Roper, daughter of Christopher Roper, 5th Baron Teynham. He had a home in Winchester but died in Dunkirk.

Books

Belasyse used an engraved armorial bookplate (Franks 2064); the extent and disposition of his library are not known but the bulk of his estate would have passed to his eldest son Henry (d.1782).
