The Franks Collection includes early eighteenth-century bookplates of Fotherley Baker (Franks 1223) and Arabella Baker (Franks 1218), one of them being an amended version of the other. There are numerous references to Fotherley Baker, and Arabella his wife, in legal documents in the National Archives between 1727 and 1747, referring to him as a gentleman and in one case as Clerk of the Company of Haberdashers.
