Robert PICKERING d.1581/2

Biographical Note

Baptised on 1 August 1556, second son of Sir John Pickering of Tichmarsh, Northamptonshire. Instituted rector of Tichmarsh on 14 June 1568. BA Clare College 1574/5, MA 1578. Ordained deacon at Peterborough, and priested in 1580/1.

Books

Roberts' probate inventory includes over 25 books, valued at £4 0s 9d (from a total estate valued at £7 14s 8d). The books are mostly in Latin, with some English. The subjects covered were predominantly theology, and philosophy. The full inventory is edited as Leedham-Green no.146 (see full citation below).
