Katherine NORTH fl.1729-1733
Biographical Note
Fourth (?) daughter of the lawyer, politician and writer Roger North and Mary Gayer of Rougham, Norfolk. Her role in her family's musical life is suggested by her father's bequeathing her a 'lesser harpsicord and frame with the second Violin'. On his death she probably came under the guardianship of her cousin, Francis North.
Books
She had a printed book label ('E Libris / Katherine North / Her Book 17 ') (Lee 494), similar in style to that used by her brother Montagu. An example in the Franks Collection has the manuscript completion of '29' to indicate a year of acquisition.
