Sir George DUNBAR, 2nd bart d.1747

Biographical Note

Son of Sir James Dunbar, 1st bart, of Mochrum, Wigtownshire, from whom he inherited the title and family estates in 1718 (he subsequently sold Mochrum and bought an estate at Woodside, Stirlingshire). He fought in the War of the Spanish Succession as a captain in the Royal Scots Dragoons; details of his later life have not been traced.

Books

Dunbar used an engraved armorial bookplate (Franks 9258). The extent of his library is not known; it would have been inherited by his son James, 3rd baronet, advocate.
