Vincent AMCOTTS 1683-1733
Biographical Note
A Vincent Amcotts (1625-1686) bought the Harrington estate (Lincolnshire) in 1673; another Vincent Amcotts (1683-1733), his son, is presumably to owner of the two bookplates found in the Franks bequest. He was married to Elizabeth Quincey, daughter of John Quincey of Aslackby (Lincs). Their son, Charles Amcotts (1729-1777) later became Sheriff of Lincolnshire, 1753, Colonel of the Lincolnshire Militia, and Tory Member of Parliament for Boston (Lincs), 1754-61, and 1766-77.
Books
Used two engraved armorial bookplates:
Franks 437: Amcotts, Vincent, of Harrington in Com. Lincolne, Esqr.
Franks 409: Amcotts, Vincent, of Harrington in Com. Lincolne, Esqr. (Another impression of the last plate.)
