Biographical Note
Elder son of Richard Bartlett/Barttelot of Stopham, Sussex and a member of a gentry family long established there. He inherited the family estates from his father in 1614. JP 1619, MP for Bramber 1625-6, though not recorded as having been an active parliamentarian. He died intestate leaving only daughters; one of these married Henry, son of Walter's cousin Henry (d.1639), who inherited the Stopham estates.
Books
Bartlett is recorded in the armorials database on the basis of one surviving book now in Texas, and a rubbing of another, now untraced. Nothing else is known of the extent or fate of his library. Examples: Harry Ransom Center, AH.C438+638r.
