Theodore GULSTON or GOULSTON 1575-1632
Biographical Note
Son of William Gulstonm rector of Thrapston, Northamptonshire. BA Peterhouse, Cambridge 1595; fellow of Merton College, Oxford 1596, MA 1600, MB and MD 1610. He practised as a physician, initially in Leicestershire before moving to London where he became a fellow of the College of Physicians in 1611. He became wealthy and successful, established an annual lecture series at the College, and published editions of Aristotle as well as (posthumously) medical works.
Books
Gulston's will has no reference to books, and is largely concerned with distributing money and property around his family and associates; all the residue of his estate and goods were left to his wife Ellen. It is understood to have been at his request that she gave many of his books to Merton College, Oxford soon after his death; some were also given to Peterhouse, Cambridge.
