Robert SHARROCK 1677/8-1708

Biographical Note

Son of Robert Sharrock, rector of Great Horwood, Buckinghamshire. Matriculated at New College, Oxford in 1695, but did not graduate; he was admitted at the Inner Temple in 1693. His will reveals property holdings in Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, Norfolk and elsewhere but his career is not otherwise recorded.

Books

Sharrock inherited a library of books from his father, left to him on condition that it was not sold or divided. It was auctioned in London, together with whatever books were added by the younger Robert, 26.2.1711; the catalogue contained 2155 lots, plus “several tracts bound up with other books that are not mentioned in the catalogue”, divided between Latin and other languages (1304) and English (851).

Characteristic Markings

None of the Sharrocks’ books have been identified.
