John NOEL 1659-1718
Biographical Note
Son of Baptist Noel, 3rd Viscount Campden and his fourth wife Elizabeth (Bertie). Admitted to the Middle Temple in 1676. MP for Rutland 1710-11, 1715-18. Married Elizabeth Sherard.
Books
He had an engraved armorial bookplate dated 1701 (‘The Honbl. John Noel, Esqr. Second Son to the Right Honble. Baptist Lord Viscount Campden’): Franks *426.
The content of his library is not established. There is no reference to books in his will, in which he was adamant that his sister Bridget Noel, and not his wife or other members of his family, should be his beneficiary.
