Robert SOME d.1608/9
Biographical Note
BA St John's College, Cambridge 1561/2, fellow Queens' College 1562, MA 1565, BD 1571/2 and DD in 1580. Elected a university preacher in 1567, Master of Peterhouse from 1589, and he served as Vice-Chancellor from 1590 to 1592 and 1599 to 1600. Rector of Girton from 1573 to 1609, where he turned the chancel into a schoolroom.
Books
Some's probate inventory includes over 300 books, 206 of which are unspecified, valued at £34 12s 10d (from a total estate valued at £140 1s 7d). The books are mostly in Latin, with some Greek, Spanish and English. The named books are overwhelmingly theological alongside some lexicography, grammar and other subjects. The full inventory is edited as Leedham-Green no.186 (see full citation below).
