Anne HYDE, Duchess of York 1637-1671
Biographical Note
Daughter of Edward Hyde, Earl of Clarendon, and wife of James Duke of York (later James II). After her marriage to the Duke and her father's rise in influence, she became increasingly involved in politics and was considered 'influential' by French ambassadors (ODNB).
