Biographical Note

Son of Edmund Clerke of Hungerford Park, Berkshire. Matriculated at Trinity College, Cambridge 1697, but did not graduate; he is assumed to be the Edmund Clerke, son of Edmund, merchant of London who was admitted at the Inner Temple in 1709. His subsequent career has not been traced.

Books

Clerke used an engraved armorial bookplate, which looks to date from ca.1720-30 (Franks 5918); the extent and disposition of his library is not known.
