Biographical Note

Son of Abraham Creighton of Drumboory and Crom Castle, Ireland, MP for County Fermanagh, and Mary Spotiswoode; he inherited the family estates from his father in 1705. He was noted for his actions during the military campaigns in Ireland in 1689-90, when he helped to defend Crom Castle from James II's forces; he subsequently achieved the rank of major general in the army. He was MP for Agher, County Tyrone in 1695, and for Lifford, 1695-1728. He was awarded the degree of LL.D by Trinity College Dublin.

Books

Creighton used an engraved armorial bookplate, on which his military rank is given as Colonel (Franks *499/*516); the extent and disposition of his library is not known.
