John GRANVILLE or GRENVILLE, 1st Baron Granville 1665-1707
Biographical Note
Second son of John Granville, 1st Earl of Bath. Matriculated at Christ Church, Oxford 1680, but did not graduate. MP for various Cornwall constituencies between 1685 and 1703; he held various local administrative offices, and was a captain in the Earl of Bath's regiment in the 1680s. He inherited estates at Potheridge from his father in 1701, and was made Baron Granville in 1703.
Books
Granville used an engraved armorial bookplate, dated 1705 (Franks *115); the extent and disposition of his library is not known.
